TapeManBlue Butyl Flashing Tape seals window and door openings, sheathing seams, and other building-envelope transitions where a continuous water barrier is required. This window flashing tape combines a butyl rubber adhesive with a durable woven polypropylene backing to create a permanent, weathertight seal on compatible clean, dry building surfaces.

The flexible butyl flashing tape construction conforms around curves, corners, and transitions to maintain consistent coverage without lifting at the edges. The butyl adhesive is also self-healing around punctures, creating a watertight seal around nails, screws, and other fasteners that penetrate the tape. 

Butyl flashing tape bonds on contact, so there is no cure time required before the surface is protected. Unlike liquid flashing, which requires application and curing time, flashing tape provides an immediate barrier after installation. A protective release liner prevents the adhesive from sticking to itself during handling and helps make applications cleaner and easier. 

This butyl flashing tape also seams structural insulated sheathing (SIS) panels, sealing the gaps between panels to maintain a continuous water barrier across the building envelope. Butyl sealant tape can be used on vulnerable edges and corners, as well as transitions between sheathing and other building openings, to create a continuous weathertight seal.

Butyl flashing tape should not be applied to wet, dirty, frozen, or contaminated surfaces, or when temperatures are outside the recommended 30°F–180°F installation range. Butyl flashing tape should not be used as a substitute for house wrap, roofing underlayment, or other required building-envelope components. Always verify compatibility with the application surface and follow applicable window, door, and building-envelope installation requirements.

How to install butyl flashing tape: 

1. Make sure the application surface is clean and dry.

2. Measure and cut the butyl flashing tape to the required length.

3. Remove the protective release liner.

4. Apply the butyl tape over the opening, seam, corner, or transition according to the flashing-system requirements.

5. Smooth the flashing tape around corners and transitions without creating gaps.

6. Use a flashing tape roller to apply firm, even pressure and remove trapped air.

7. Verify that edges, overlaps, corners, and transitions are completely sealed.
